Chocolate Chip Pie!

The other day, I made this delicious Chocolate Chip Pie and it was just so yummy and easy that I wanted to share the recipe with all of you. It is from Paula Deen's son's!

Ingredients
Pie:
2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
1 cup (2-sticks) unsalted butter, softened
1 1/2 cups packed light brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
3 large eggs
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
3 cups semisweet chocolate chips
2 cups chopped walnuts, optional (I didn't add these)

Whipped cream:
2 pints (4-cups) heavy cream
1/4 cup confectioners' sugar
1/4 cup miniature semisweet chocolate chips (I didn't use these either, it's pretty chocolatey without them)

Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease 2 (9-inch) pie plates; set aside.
In a large bowl, sift together the flour, salt, baking soda, and baking powder. In the bowl of an electric mixer, cream together butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Add the eggs, 1 at a time, beating until incorporated. Beat in the vanilla. Add flour mixture, a little at a time, and mix until fully combined. Fold in the 3 cups chocolate chips and, if desired, the walnuts. Divide the dough between the prepared pie plates and smooth the tops with a spatula.
Bake about 30 minutes or until pies are golden and slightly firm to the touch but still soft. If the pies begin to darken too much before they are baked through, cover with foil and continue baking. Let pies cool completely on a wire rack.
While the pies cool, whip the cream and confectioners' sugar until soft peaks form (tips curl). Fold in the chocolate chips. Refrigerate whipped cream until ready to use. Spread the whipped cream over the pies and serve.

Enjoy!

Lilly Pulitzer Spring 2010!

Some of the Lilly Spring Line that caught my eye.......

I really like this dress, classic pink/green combo always looks so cute!
I have not tried the one shoulder trend yet, maybe it's time!

The much talked about "Pandamonium" shift. Did you pre-order this one? I did not, while it is very cute, I am just not "in love". I do however, think it is a perfect print for Minnies!

Pink and orange looks great too, pair this with some oranges revas and you're all set!

(all pictures from c.orrico)
Hope you're having a great Monday!

Headband Dilemma

I am in love with headbands! They are probably my favorite accessory, as they are super easy and can pull together any look. So you can imagine my disappointment when two of my tortoise shell headbands broke this very same week! Well, one of them didn't really break it slipped off when I was riding a bike and I did not even realize until much later (maybe this was a sign that I should have been wearing a helmet). Anyways, to fix the problem I had to made a quick trip to JCREW because they always have a good supply of tortoise shell headbands.
I was right and I picked up one of the wider ones.

When I think of headbands now, I think of Blair Waldorf in Gossip Girl, she is always wearing a cute one and has kind of "brought back" the headband.

I also love the needlepoint headbands from Tucker Blair. Those nautical lobsters are too cute.
Have a great Saturday!

Fab Finds

Have you all heard of Groupons? I am relatively new to them, but find it a pretty neat thing. So far I have gotten a gift certifcate to a local spa for only $25, that has a $60 value! Here is some info from their website:

"Groupon started in November 2008 as part of The Point, a platform for collective action. We started Groupon to make it easier for people to enjoy the great things in their community. We do it by offering daily deals at unbeatable prices through the power of group buying.
We also use Groupon's consumer collective to lift each community we touch, by featuring local charities and organizing support for community causes.
We treat our customers the way that we like to be treated, and do everything we can to offer a "too good to be true" experience from the moment you buy your Groupon to the day you use it."
If you want to see if your city has Groupons, here is a link.

Also, Lord and Taylor is giving a free Lilly tote, whenever you buy one of the following Lilly
resort dresses

There is also free shipping! The deal was very tempting but I decided to pass it up because I really would be buying one of the dresses just for the bag, and I wouldn't be able to wear it for months anyway, because it is so chilly here.

Golden Globes 2010

Here are my top 5 looks from last night ......

5.
Lea Michele in Oscar de la Renta. Many people thought the bottom was too big, but I liked how it was princessy.
4.

Fergie in Ellie Saab, this gown made her waist look really tiny.
3.

Toni Collette in Ellie Saab, love all the sparkle!
2.
Penelope Cruz wearing a lovely Giorgio Armani Prive lace gown. I think Penelope always looks super glamorous and I also love her voice!

1.

Emily Blunt was my very favorite wearing Dolce and Gabbana. I like how it is very feminine with the pink and ruffles. I also like who is standing next to her haha as I am a big John Krasinski fan!
I noticed that the stars kept their jewelry pretty low key, maybe out of respect to Haiti?
Have a lovely Monday!

Shoes of the Day

On days like today when the ground is wet and slushy my fuchsia Hunter Wellies are my go to shoe! They are the perfect shade of pink and go with Lilly quite well. If you are looking for a long lasting, comfortable, and very fashionable rain boot, then I think Hunters are your best bet!

You can transition your wellies from spring to colder months with these cute socks. I got mine at Nordstrom's, but I couldn't find them on their website, Neiman's has them online here.
Do you have a favorite pair of rain boots? I hope everyone has a great Friday and fun weekend, TGIF, this week seemed really long!

Tour of Target

I had heard that Target was doing this new bulk items, big sale thing, but never thought it would ever actually happen, well it did! There are tons of signs as soon as you walk in advertising it, and the actual new section took the place of the outdoorish area, which I always liked! Anyways, all of the things they have are totally random items in massive amounts. One of the workers said that the new "event" will end Feb. 21st unless it is a big success then it will become a permanent feature, which better not happen because honestly if I wanted to buy that kind of stuff I could just go to Costco and it gives Target a totally different, not good vibe.
Here is a glimpse of what to expect if you have not been to Target recently....

On a happier note, here are some cute items Target currently has to offer.......

Adorable little ottomans complete with underneath storage compartments. One of these would look cute in a young girl's room and they are a total steal, on sale for $32. Preppy washcloths, only $10.

Pink and green picture frames, each $4.99. One of these would look nice on my desk!

Really cute magnetic letters and little pencil holders could be found in the dollar section.

A bit early for St. Valentine's Day but heart shaped ice cubes are fun for any day! These were also in the dollar section.

Let it Snow!

The snow just keeps on falling here in Columbus! Iggy and Oscar, the dogs, had fun playing in it, but it is just too cold outside for everyone else!
I find it annoying how stores bring out their spring stuff sooo early. I was in jcrew recently and they had out little ruffled sleeveless tops and jean jackets while I was all bundled up in a winter coat and scarf! In Florida this may be okay, but I am a total sucker for warm mittens and cozy hats when weather appropriate, here are some of my faves....Big Apple Right Left Mittens from Kate Spade Stepping Stone Glove from Anthropologie Sun Valley knit cap from Ralph Lauren Ribbed Cashmere gloves from J.CREW in dark poppy
Stratus Shapes Headwrap from Anthropologie
I think this is such an adorable idea! It would be great to wear if your hair was in a ponytail and that bow just adds to the cute factor. Dot Scarf from Garnet Hill
These are just great and the pink-brown is another good color combo.

The Murfee Scarf from Lilly Pulitzer in Bright Navy Grandscale Access

I actually haven't gotten one of these yet! The above print is probably my favorite of all of the Murffe's. Do any of you have one and love it??
I hope everyone had a great start to their week! Thanks for reading!

All Set for 2010!!

Happy New Year everyone!! I cannot believe it is a brand new decade, 2009 went by so quickly. I am all set for the new year because I got a Lilly 2010 agenda! I was debating between a Kate Spade one or a Lilly one, and decided to go with the Lilly. I hope this agenda helps me be more organized as that is one of my resolutions for this year!
