j.crew Pixie Pants! I do not know why I am so late on the bandwagon for these because they instantly became one of my favorite things that I own. I am literally wearing them right now! I love the comfort of wearing leggings but do not consider them really appropriate to wear out in public, these pants are the perfect solution. They are super warm and really thick and well made. If it was socially acceptable to wear them everyday I totally would. They have a little zipper in the back which makes them look even more like pants. I will dress them up for work under a dress with revas or for class with a sweater and riding boots and right now I am actually wearing them just with an oversized sweatshirt. If I do not receive them in gray for Christmas I am for sure planning on gifting myself them because I need another pair! Do any of you own these? I promise I was not compensated by j.crew to write this I just really really love these pants if you can't already tell.

In other news, I just finished fall quarter of my sophomore year in college and am on winter break. Time literally flies! I wish it would all slow down, there are so many more things I want to be able to do in college and am loving every minute of it. It is nice to be able to spend time with my family and not have to worry about school work though, here is my mostly non significant to do list over break:

1. Watch Eloise At Christmastime

Can I just be Eloise already? I love love love this movie and will be watching it with my mother at some point during break, we usually watch it on Christmas Eve Eve.

2. Make Christmas cookies!

3. Find my j.crew union suit jammies

mehh the picture is blurry, but you get the idea. Ever since I started college these have been MIA so I am determined to find them over break. They were really cute with mistletoe on them and super warm which is why I really need them now because my house at home is freezing!

4. Catch up on fun reading.
I do not have to think about school for 3 whole weeks so please recommend any good books that you have read recently, I finally have time to read again!

5. Get a sun kissed glow.
I am going to Naples, FL a few days before Christmas and am super excited. I totally miss the sun!

6. get my haircut.
I am embarrassed to admit how long it has been since my last one. I will be making an appointment Monday.

7. Find a NYE outfit.
I am open for suggestions. I will probably do a post on this soon.

I warned you my to do list over break was super pathetic....I hope everyone has a lovely day and good luck to all the students still studying for finals!!

New Phone!

Let me start out by saying I have realllly bad luck with phones. The most recent disaster being me dropping my blackberry in a creek about a month ago. But I finally got an iphone! I am really liking it so far, for some reason I was very anti iphone but gave in and am so glad I did. The only downside so far is that the battery doesn't seem to last very long at all.

I got this kate spade case for it and it should come in the mail Thursday, until then I will have to be VERY careful (I actually already dropped it on the sidewalk this weekend, luckily it is still okay).

My main intention for writing this post was to ask all of you who have iphones for any app recommendations or tips or cool things the phone can do (because I am tech clueless) thanks!

This summer I became completely obsessed with SATC and watched every single episode in order. Before this summer I had never watched or been interested in the show (my mom probably would never have let me watch it in high school anyways). I think every woman can relate to the show and it perfectly portrays a wonderful friendship, it really made me miss my friends from college. I really want to start having brunch with my girlfriends on Saturdays like the fab foursome on SATC did, those were some of my favorite moments on the show. I think I am a Charlotte with a little bit of Carrie. Their clothes were by far my favorite too. Here are some of my favorite outfits......
I also love the tartan dress that Charlotte wears in the "Just Say Yes" episode but I couldn't find a picture.

I am most definitely "Team Big" I love him and Carrie together and like Charlotte from the beginning of the show I felt that he and Carrie would end up together. A part of me even secretly rejoiced when Carrie cheated on Aidan with Big. Carrie just seemed more like herself with Big and he was more "unattainable" than Aidan which made him much more attractive.

Oooh another thing I loved about SATC is how they compared Carrie and Big to Katie and Hubble from "The Way We Were". "The Way We Were" is one of my favorite movies and I, like Carrie, see myself as a "Katie girl" not a "simple girl" except I do not have crazy curly hair lol.

In another episode the girls mention that they watched an "Afair to Remember" which is one of my all time favorites!! And in the first movie Miranda and Steve plan a meeting place if they are still in love and want to be with each other just like the do in "Affair to Remember".

If you like myself did not watch SATC when it was in it's "prime" I highly recommend watching it now, every episode is so relatable and the friendship is beautiful!

P.S. I heard rumors that there is going to be a SATC prequel TV series and I really hope this does not happen. SATC was already perfect and I do not feel like this prequel will do it justice. Plus, it would def not be the same without the amazing characters, child versions would be weird and probably not done correctly!

I am really sorry that I haven't blogged in forever, I am really going to start making an effort to get back into it! So far my summer has gone pretty well, I just got back from Hilton Head with my family last night. Unfortunately my mom's camera battery died really quickly and she didn't bring a charger so I do not have many photos. I took a few pictures on my old crackberry (which I love but admit takes awful pictures).

Above is a picture I took of "the point" on one of my little beach walks. I LOVE taking walks alone on the beach, I think up my best thoughts on them LOL.

Surprisingly the only things I bought on the trip were the above little pink and green turtle earrings (DZalicious) and cute little mason jar/wine glass. Here is a similar one that I found online. This summer I am working at my neighbor's law firm, which I like alot but it is kind of interfering with my laying out sun time haha, but seriously. Since working is the only really productive thing I am doing this summer, I decided to "better myself" by reading more and even made a goodreads account, if you have one too or if you don't you should make one, anyways click here to add me. If you do not have a goodreads account but have read a good book recently please tell me about it in a comment, I am always on the lookout for my next read and love suggestions!

Have you heard of the website Her Campus? If you are a college girl (or even not I read it throughout high school) it is definitely a must check out kind of thing! I am not too big into advice websites but Her Campus is so much more than that it is an online magazine for college women written by other college women just like ourselves who face the same problems we do such as relationship problems, outfit dilemmas and which seat to take ( hahaa okay that was a stupid joke I am in a really weird mood right now). Anyways, Her Campus is my go to website and the super exciting news is that my school, OSU finally got a branch. It is brand new so you should for sure check it out and like it on facebook. Actually, this is rather sad thinking about it now but I love Her Campus so much that when I was applying to colleges a huge factor in my decision was whether or not that school had a branch. Oh and btw I wrote an article for the site that you should look at too, it is about one of my favorite clothing lines, Emma Graham Designs. I am on spring break as of yesterday and for the first time I think ever I am not going anywhere! My mom and some of her friends are going to the Boden warehouse sale and I am super jealous and am going to try to talk her into letting me go with them because I will still be on spring break.

As I was walking back from class today, I saw a girl with really pretty red hair and that of course made me think of "Anne of Green Gables" and how I really want to watch the movies when I go home this weekend! I don't know about you but Anne was a huge part of my childhood, my Grandma bought me the whole series for one of my birthdays and I have loved the movies for as long as I can remember.

A few months ago when I was walking through Anthro I literally shrieked when I saw that they had a pink copy of the first book! I of course bought it and it is a great addition to my desk in my dorm. One thing I love about Anne of Green Gables is that the movie and book are so similar they barely left anything out, that is probably why the movie is over three hours!

I always wanted red hair like Anne's. And I think Megan Follows was the perfect girl for the job, she makes a perfect Anne!

"Anne of Green Gables: The Continuing Story" is the third movie and kind of combines parts of Anne's life from the book and events that are supposed to happen to her youngest daughter Rilla, but it is still really good if you don't compare it to the books! I always cry at this scene when Anne finally marries Gilbert (I always had the biggest crush on him from the very beginning!). And I love the song they play at that part.

Here are a few of my favorite Anne quotes....

I cannot believe it is already Novemember, this school year is going by very quickly! Today was the coldest it has been so far and I got to wear my favorite LL Bean Norwegian sweater to walk to class. I found the identical one still on their website, well except mine is in black.

I was a ballerina for Halloween. I got my tutu from American Apparel, and totally loved it! It was fun seeing everyone dressed up in costumes. I hope all of you had good weekends as well.

Also, today I was looking through the Neiman's Christmas Book and found this adorable EDIBLE playhouse made by Dylan's Candy Bar. Too bad it is $15,000. One can dream right? Looking at it makes me sooo excited for Christmas, even though it isn't even Thanksgiving yet.

I am sooo excited that it is finally Fall! I am currently loving Starbuck's pumpkin spice lattes and fall nail colors.

Right now my nail polish color is Midnight in Lincoln Park by OPI. I am usually partial to Essie, but really wanted to try out this neat dark, dark purple color for fall!

A few updates on my life, I am now a college freshman at OSU. I love all of my classes, which started last Wednesday and will do a post with pictures of my dorm in the near future.

Happy May! I am sorry for being so MIA lately, this month I am making a resolution to be a better blogger! Today is the first day in what seems like weeks that my nose was not stuffy, does anyone else have bad allergies this time of year?

I am so excited for Lisa Birnbach's new book to come out, I pre-ordered it recently. Even though TOPH, was not from my time I still love looking at it, and cannot wait to read this newer version.

Another book that I want to read is my favorite political columnist, S.E Cupp's new book. It just came out April 27th. I think S.E is so cute and is a great role model to young women, as she is very intelligent as well as stylish!

Also, when I was very little (around 2) I couldn't pronounce Sally so my mother said I created the nickname SE (like Essie but w/ a lisp!) for myself, so we are kind of name twins!

I am back from my little blogging vacation, I have greatly missed all of you! Here are some things that happened while I was away.....

Lots of time spent reading/ relaxing by the pool.

I wore this to Mass on Easter Sunday. Please notice the cute headband that matches the dress perfectly! It is from looking4lilly, she has the best etsy shop ever! I hope that everyone had a lovely Easter, I sure did.

Yesterday marked the first day of Spring! I am so excited, Easter will be here before we know it and I cannot wait to start wearing all my Lilly again.

Nothing says Spring, like Trader Joe's $5 flowers! They will brighten up any day and room.

I also have a nice, light springy dinner of linguine with asparagus and pine nuts planned, from the latest Real Simple.
Here is the recipe:

12 ounces linguine
1/4 cup olive oil
1/4 cup pine nuts (I love these!)
4 cloves garlic, sliced
2 pounds asparagus, trimmed and cut into 1 inch pieces
1 cup shaved Parmesan

~Cook the pasta according to the package directions; drain the pasta and return it to the pot.

~Meanwhile, heat the oil in a medium skillet over medium heat. Add the pine nuts and garlic and cook, stirring frequently, until golden, 1 to 2 minutes. Add the asparagus and cook, tossing occasionally, until just tender, 2 to 3 minutes.

~Add the asparagus mixture to the pasta along with 1 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon pepper and toss to combine. Sprinkle with the Parmesan before serving.

Liberty of London

I was super excited when I heard that Liberty of London was going to have a line for Target! I marked the launch date, March 14th on my calendar and made sure to stop in to check it out.

I liked the little girls clothes the most!

The little girls bathing suits were really cute but must have gone fast as they were already very picked over when I got there.

More sundresses, the colors looked much better in person.

I am a headband fanatic! I tend to like the thicker ones more though.

There were lots of office supplies, like these file folder holders, or whatever they are called!

But, the thing I really wanted to check out was this adorable paisley bike and my Target didn't have it! If I see this after Easter I am seriously buying it, it could actually be considered practical as I love bike rides.

Have checked out the Liberty of London line? Did your Target have the bike? I thought everything was cute, but I did not feel there was anything I really really wanted.

Vineyard Vines at Filene's Basement!

I was so excited, when I saw all of the cute stuff they had, and all for super cheap. I usually do not go to Filene's because it is pretty far from my house, but mother and I needed to go to Whole Foods and the Filene's is right next door, and I was really glad that we stopped in.

Mother was so kind and bought me the cute skort on top and also the little green one that is peeking out!

They had a good selection of polos for only $15!

They also had these adorable little tops.

Lots of skirts and skorts, unfortunately most were not in my size.

I have been wanting one of these perfect little oxfords with the print under the cuffs and collar, but the only two they had were not in my size. I was so bummed!

When I spotted this nautical coat, from Juicy, I just knew I had to share it! There are little anchors on the buttons.

I will have to start going to Filene's more often. Happy Friday! Have a fabulous weekend.

I picked up this cute little yellow book a few months ago from a Pottery Barn Outlet. It is really fun and has a personalized fortune for your name! Here is what it said for my name....

I have always loved names! When I was younger I loved lists (still do!) but I always would make these lists of what I wanted to name my kids and what my favorite names were. I found one of these lists the other day in a journal and it made me laugh here are some of the names I had written down...

There is so much snow outside today, being snowed in always makes me feel like shopping online. Today I bought the Kelsea dress, I just love t-shirt dresses and it was on sale with free shipping at Under the Palm Tree! It will be great as a bathing suit cover up....The towel, suit, dress, and sunglasses are all Lilly and the flip flops are Juicy Couture.

The Kelsea dress is also great for running errands or going to the store...

The dress, Thermos, and agenda are from Lilly. The shoes are Jack Rogers and the cute straw bag is from JCREW. I think it would be so fun to zip around on a pink vespa!
I titled this post 'Last One' because Lent starts tomorrow and this year I decided to give up spending money on myself, so yes that means no more shopping until Easter! Even if you are not Catholic you can still give up something for Lent, usually I try giving up sweets like cake and cookies. When I was thinking about me giving up shopping I instantly thought of the girl on the movie "Confessions of a Shopaholic" when she freezes her credit card, I may have to do that LOL, just kidding though I think I'll have some self control!

Thanks a bunch to Sara from A Note on the Screen Door for giving me the Sunshine Award! You should go check out her blog, I love it! I am supposed to tag 12 more bloggers, but it is so hard to narrow it down to twelve and I have seen this one going around a lot so if you haven't gotten it yet consider yourself tagged! Instead, I'll tell you 12 things that make me super happy, like sunshine:
1.Making to do lists and then checking off the items, it makes me feel so organized and accomplished.
2. Children's artwork. I just love it like finger paintings and little drawings, I should be a preschool teacher.
3. Shopping, online or in a store or anywhere! I am actually giving up spending money on myself for Lent which starts in a few days, so it will be pretty tough but worth it in the long run.
4.Green tea. I just love this stuff! I only like it hot and with caffeine, it is super good for you too and has tons of anti-oxidants. My favorite brands are Yogi and Tazo.
5. Spending time with family and friends.
6. Blogging. Reading others blogs and receiving comments/emails from other bloggers.
7. Getting things in the mail. I love getting snail mail or packages!
8. Holidays, especially Christmas and Easter!
9. Pink and Green anything!
10. Skiing. I also love the clothes that go with it.
11. Anne of Green Gables. That movie just always makes me happy, I like to rewatch it at least once a year. The book series is really good too.
12. Polyvore. I love when you make an outfit that you actually have on it.

I seriously love getting packages in the mail, it just makes my day! You can only imagine my excitement when I saw the adorable pink swap package from Stacy on my doorstep. Stacy and I were paired for Monograms and Manicures 2nd Pink Swap, it was fun picking out cute pink gifts. Thank you so much Stacy, I love everything I got! The Lilly circle notes look perfect on my desk, the socks are so cozy, and I already have been snacking on the m&m's and put them in the heart dish.

I love One Kings Lane, usually I just like to take a peek and see what they have but today they had some Lilly items so I ordered.....

I was so excited when I saw this, I remember last time Lilly came to Ruelala everything sold out super quickly. Snow Day!

The snow just keeps falling here in Columbus, tons of schools are out! We do not have nearly as much as D.C or those places though.

To keep warm, I sipped some yummy hot cocoa with homemade whipped cream. I also am finishing this very good book, "Weekends at Bellevue" by Dr. Julie Holland. I highly recommend it, Dr. Holland tells what it was like to work in the psych ER at Bellevue Hospital. Her stories are inspiring and also a bit humorous.
Another thing that is helping me get through this snowy winter is remembering that I will be in warm, sunny Palm Springs in less than two months! I cannot wait and I think some shopping is in order (new bathing suit and Jack Rogers perhaps?).

I cannot believe February is already here. I like this month because it is filled with lots of pink! Here is a cute cupcake idea for Valentine's Day from Real Simple......

Original purpose: Adorning Christmas trees and stuffing stockings.

Aha! use: Valentine candy. With some minor melting, they can decorate cupcakes and gift boxes, or cards that will be hand delivered.

How to do it: Remove the cellophane wrapping from the canes and form hearts by placing them hook to hook and tail to tail on a nonstick baking sheet or one lined with parchment paper. Bake at 350°F for 2 to 4 minutes (depending on the canes' size) or until they stick together when you pinch the ends lightly. Cool thoroughly and remove with a spatula. If you want to make flat hearts with psychedelic stripes, bake for 8 to 10 minutes.

Reward: Leftovers that say "love."

Chocolate Chip Pie!

The other day, I made this delicious Chocolate Chip Pie and it was just so yummy and easy that I wanted to share the recipe with all of you. It is from Paula Deen's son's!

Ingredients
Pie:
2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
1 cup (2-sticks) unsalted butter, softened
1 1/2 cups packed light brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
3 large eggs
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
3 cups semisweet chocolate chips
2 cups chopped walnuts, optional (I didn't add these)

Whipped cream:
2 pints (4-cups) heavy cream
1/4 cup confectioners' sugar
1/4 cup miniature semisweet chocolate chips (I didn't use these either, it's pretty chocolatey without them)

Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease 2 (9-inch) pie plates; set aside.
In a large bowl, sift together the flour, salt, baking soda, and baking powder. In the bowl of an electric mixer, cream together butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Add the eggs, 1 at a time, beating until incorporated. Beat in the vanilla. Add flour mixture, a little at a time, and mix until fully combined. Fold in the 3 cups chocolate chips and, if desired, the walnuts. Divide the dough between the prepared pie plates and smooth the tops with a spatula.
Bake about 30 minutes or until pies are golden and slightly firm to the touch but still soft. If the pies begin to darken too much before they are baked through, cover with foil and continue baking. Let pies cool completely on a wire rack.
While the pies cool, whip the cream and confectioners' sugar until soft peaks form (tips curl). Fold in the chocolate chips. Refrigerate whipped cream until ready to use. Spread the whipped cream over the pies and serve.

Headband Dilemma

I am in love with headbands! They are probably my favorite accessory, as they are super easy and can pull together any look. So you can imagine my disappointment when two of my tortoise shell headbands broke this very same week! Well, one of them didn't really break it slipped off when I was riding a bike and I did not even realize until much later (maybe this was a sign that I should have been wearing a helmet). Anyways, to fix the problem I had to made a quick trip to JCREW because they always have a good supply of tortoise shell headbands.

I was right and I picked up one of the wider ones.

When I think of headbands now, I think of Blair Waldorf in Gossip Girl, she is always wearing a cute one and has kind of "brought back" the headband.

I also love the needlepoint headbands from Tucker Blair. Those nautical lobsters are too cute.

I noticed that the stars kept their jewelry pretty low key, maybe out of respect to Haiti?

On days like today when the ground is wet and slushy my fuchsia Hunter Wellies are my go to shoe! They are the perfect shade of pink and go with Lilly quite well. If you are looking for a long lasting, comfortable, and very fashionable rain boot, then I think Hunters are your best bet!

You can transition your wellies from spring to colder months with these cute socks. I got mine at Nordstrom's, but I couldn't find them on their website, Neiman's has them online here.

Tour of Target

I had heard that Target was doing this new bulk items, big sale thing, but never thought it would ever actually happen, well it did! There are tons of signs as soon as you walk in advertising it, and the actual new section took the place of the outdoorish area, which I always liked! Anyways, all of the things they have are totally random items in massive amounts. One of the workers said that the new "event" will end Feb. 21st unless it is a big success then it will become a permanent feature, which better not happen because honestly if I wanted to buy that kind of stuff I could just go to Costco and it gives Target a totally different, not good vibe.

Here is a glimpse of what to expect if you have not been to Target recently....

On a happier note, here are some cute items Target currently has to offer.......

Adorable little ottomans complete with underneath storage compartments. One of these would look cute in a young girl's room and they are a total steal, on sale for $32. Preppy washcloths, only $10.

Pink and green picture frames, each $4.99. One of these would look nice on my desk!

Really cute magnetic letters and little pencil holders could be found in the dollar section.

A bit early for St. Valentine's Day but heart shaped ice cubes are fun for any day! These were also in the dollar section.

Let it Snow!

The snow just keeps on falling here in Columbus! Iggy and Oscar, the dogs, had fun playing in it, but it is just too cold outside for everyone else!

I find it annoying how stores bring out their spring stuff sooo early. I was in jcrew recently and they had out little ruffled sleeveless tops and jean jackets while I was all bundled up in a winter coat and scarf! Have you ever seen the movie Eloise at Christmastime? I think it is super cute and funny, and Eloise calls the day before Christmas Eve, Christmas Eve Eve! So, everyone have a Happy Christmas Eve Eve! My day will include helping mother cook, doing a bit of shopping, and hopefully watching Eloise at Christmastime!I also wanted to share with you one of my favorite Christmas decorations, snow babies! Christmas Cookies!

I just love baking Christmas cookies! This past weekend mother and I along with some other neighborhood friends got together and made about seven different kinds. Here are some of the finished product, I think I am going to add some ribbon to the jars for a more festive look:The other day on Food Network Giada was making these delicious looking Peppermint-Chocolate Sandwich cookies you can find the recipe here. I think I will make them next! Don't they look yummy?

Another good thing about holiday cookies is that you can put them in a pretty box or tin to give away. Something like this tin from The Container Store would be lovely...

I just love Christmastime parties! Here are my picks for your next holiday soiree.... The Swanky Dress from Trina Turk. This dress is so pretty! The rows are made up of little sequins, so you get a bit of sparkle while still being totally classy.This red Satin -trim sheath dress from Banana Republic will help you look extra festive! I am a big fan of plaid! I think this Calla Taffeta Tartan dress from Ralph Lauren would look extra nice with a wrap or pashmina. The beading adds a good touch of pizzazz to an otherwise simple black dress. This is the Longest Night Dress from Anthropologie. This Sue Wong Beaded Strapless dress is definitely a show stopper!

I finished the Christmas cards that I had to make for the swap I am doing. It was fun doing them because I have not made handmade cards in a long time and I listened to Christmas music to help get me in the spirit. I forgot how glitter gets everywhere though!

Feeling Crafty!

Today I went to Michael's to get some cute Christmasy art supplies so I could make my holiday cards for Brooklyn Bride's card swap (I am excited because I just love getting real snail mail!) and here are some things that caught my eye: Isn't this little pink tree cute? I can just see myself putting it on a little table with green ornaments on it. And by the way, it is actually a much better shade of pink in person, the picture does not do it justice. I love love love ribbon! I need to think of a cute way to display all of my colorful spools though, because right now I just keep them in a box.I really wanted to attempt to make a card something like the Christmas tree one but sadly I couldn't find any rickrack ribbon. I would like to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving! I hope everyone is enjoying spending time with their family and friends. If you are looking for something else to do with all of your Thanksgiving leftovers here is a recipe from Emeril that I found on Food Network that sounds rather yummy:

Thanksgiving Leftovers Shepherd's Pie

Ingredients
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
4 teaspoons olive oil
1 cup chopped yellow onions
2 carrots, peeled and chopped (about 1 cup)
1/4 teaspoon Essence or Creole Seasoning, recipe follows
1/4 teaspoon plus 1/8 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1 teaspoon minced garlic
4 ounces mushrooms, stemmed, wiped clean, and sliced
1/2 teaspoon chopped fresh thyme leaves
1 bay leaf
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons tomato paste
2 to 2 1/2 cups chopped or shredded roast turkey (white and/or dark meat)
1 1/4 cups chicken stock or canned chicken broth
1/2 cup green peas
4 cups leftover mashed potatoes
3/4 cup grated sharp or medium Cheddar
Chopped parsley leaves, for garnish

Directions
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Lightly grease a 9-inch square or 2.2 quart baking dish with the butter and set aside.
In a large saute pan or skillet, heat the oil over medium-high heat. Add the onions, carrots, Essence, salt, and pepper and cook, stirring, until the onions are soft, about 3 minutes. Add the garlic and cook, stirring, for 20 seconds. Add the mushrooms, thyme, and bay leaf and cook, stirring, until the mushrooms are soft, 3 to 4 minutes. Add the flour and cook, stirring, until thick, about 1 minute. Stir in the tomato paste and cook, stirring, for 1 minute. Add the meat and stir well to combine. Gradually add the stock and then the peas, and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer until the mixture is thickened, 6 to 8 minutes.
Remove from the heat and discard the bay leaf. Carefully transfer to the prepared dish and spoon the potatoes over the meat mixture, spreading to the edges. Sprinkle with the cheese and bake until the cheese is bubbly and the potatoes are crisp around the edges, 22 to 25 minutes.
Let sit for 10 minutes before serving. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve.

LILLY Sale Recap!

We just got back from the Lilly sale today! It was so much fun and totally worth the trip. We did not get there until Thursday afternoon and I was surprised at how many samples and seconds were still left. I definitely want to go back for the spring sale!Here is a peek at some of the Lilly I got. Iggy the pup got a new leash and collar, I think he likes it!

Heres a look at inside the sale. The workers were really helpful and the people seemed really well behaved. Overall, the sale was a great experience and I cannot wait to go again!!

I just really wanted to share this with you because I was so excited that my Brennan dress came in the mail. Well, this picture isn't the best, the chandelier in that room casts major shadows on the walls the time of day that it was taken but I love the dress! The beading is just exquisite but it makes the dress really heavy. I cannot wait until an occasion pops up that I can wear this fabulous dress to.

My Favorite Things (Makeup edition)

Hi everyone! I hope all of you had great weekends! I decided to share with you some of my favorite cosmetics that are great for everyday. Dior Show ($24)

I really like DiorShow and have been wearing it basically everyday as of late (sorry for the bad picture). For evening or special occasions I use a hair dryer to heat up a normal eyelash curler for about eight seconds and then quickly test it on my hand to make sure the eyelash curler is not too hot, then I use it like you would normally do on my eyelashes. This works so well! My eyelashes are really straight and the only way they will stay curled is when I do this, there are also heated lash curlers that you can buy if you do not want to heat up a regular one.Laura Mercier Lip Silk ($20)
Definitely worth every penny! This makes your lips so soft and not sticky at all. It is great to use before you go to bed.Smashbox O-Gloss ($22) and O-Glow($26)

These are so cool! Te O-gloss is essentially like any other lip gloss except it is a slightly different shade of pink for every person! It is a great thing to get if you like your color, mine is a bright reddish pink. I also love the O-glow, it is your own customized cheek color. I usually wear this when I want a very natural look just on top of moisturizer. Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer ($36)

This creates a totally flawless look and makes your face so smooth and soft!

Moroccan Oil ($39)

I do not think this is sold in stores but you can probably get it from your hairstylist. You put a tiny bit on damp hair and then style it. It works wonders! It smells really good and leaves your hair non frizzy and smooth. The only possible caution would be if you have super thin hair it might weigh it down too much.

First of all, a special thank you to Sweet, Sassy, Southern and Classy for the blog award! It was so sweet of her to give me an award and her blog is just too cute!

Here are my 10 random facts:

#1. Apples, peaches, and celery make my mouth and throat itch only certain times of the year, I think this is called hay fever but has never been much of an issue (weird huh?).

#2. I have had my hair cut by Stephane Lempire (he's friends with my aunt who lives in NYC) who also does hair for Sex in the City and many other movies, I sometimes like to watch the credits to look for his name.

#3. I have never liked soda because it burns my throat.

#4. I am however obsessed with water! I drink lots of it and love how it makes you eat less!

#5. I actually like to go fishing, on a boat especially!

#6. I have five brothers and no sisters, I kind of liked being the only girl but always missed having a sister to talk to or share clothes with haha but my mom and I are really close!

#7. I love Real Simple, it is the only magazine that I read cover to cover and actually take notes on or cut things out of!

#8. I am awful at all things art related! I have always wished that I was like a Martha Stewart and could make beautiful Thanksgiving centerpieces, but clearly that's not happening. I think that is why I love etsy so much so I can buy homemade things that I could never make!
#9. I love to read and love libraries!
#10. I have tried to become a vegetarian a few times, but it never quite works out.

My second piece of good news is that this morning, bright and early, I scored the Lilly Brennan dress from the online sale!! I had wanted this dress originally and the sale price was like a miracle! I cannot wait for this amazing dress to come in the mail. I also wanted the Claudie dress, but it was all sold out, Lilly lovers sure are quick! Did any of you luck out with anything at the sale?
And lastly, the very best news of all is that the Lilly Pulitzer warehouse sale is only a week away which = more pink and green awesomeness for me!! I can't wait! Are there any tips for the sale from those of you who have attended previously? Today was a great day, life is so good!

Tights

I love love love tights! They are perfect to be worn under dresses or skirts on chilly days (which we haven't had in Columbus recently, today was in the 70s). Usually, I like the more conservative opaque options but here are some more fun to look at ones:

Polka dots are just too cute! I love the Fair Isle pattern ones as well, guess what they made me think of? If you said how I have been wanting a new Fair Isle sweater than you would be absolutely right!

I was thinking of something along the lines of this Norwegian/Fair Isle one from Ralph Lauren. Isn't it so pretty! I can just see myself wearing it skiing!Here is another option from LL Bean, and the price is great too at $69.

Lilly Originals!!!

I loved the idea of the Lilly Originals collection as soon as I heard about it, and as always Lilly did not disappoint! Here is some Lilly eye candy to brighten your day:

First up is the Worth shift in "Classic White Not So Crabby". This is my hands down favorite of the Originals. I mean, just looking at it makes me happy! (that's why Lilly is great, you simply can't be upset in a Lilly dress!) I love how it is a classic shift and it is a real steal for only $178!

I believe this dress is part of the Resort 2009, I really love the colors but I am only 5'3 so I would probably be too short for it but it is pretty!

This is the Lara (I really love that name!) dress and I believe it is also part of the Resort line. I do not have any Lilly dresses that are similar to this one so I think it would be great to add to my collection! The rope adds a sweet nautical touch.

Wouldn't that dress be perfect for a Little Lilly? I love all the Mommy and Me looks! That little tote is cute too and there is also a bigger one. I hope you have a great Friday!

The Search for the Perfect Riding Boots

For quite some time now I have been looking for the perfect pair of riding boots. I can't believe I do not already own a pair as they are a fall wardrobe must! The kind of riding boot I want is one that preferably does not have a zipper, is brown, and causal enough for day to day wear. I really really love the Frye boots best and even though they are a bit pricey, they are made well and I will be sure to wear them a lot! Here are some ideas of what I like:jcrew Nottingham's ($240 on sale)
These are a little lighter brown than what I had in mind, but I love how rich and buttery the leather looks! 'Frenchh' Engineer Boot by Steve Madden ($99.50 on sale)

What I Love About Fall!!

Today was a beautiful day in Ohio! I love the fall leaves and the crisp weather. I really think nice weather can have an affect on your mood and brighten your day too!

Something else that is tres fab about fall would be the clothes. My closet is just full of cords and cute sweaters! Right now I'm loving these toothpick ones from jcrew, they would be perfect to tuck into boots or wear with some Tory Burch flats.

This skirt from vineyard vines would be great with some wolford tights, it's a tad bit short but I think I could pull it off with the tights. I am absolutely crazy about tartan!

Okay, at first I was a little tentative about darker nail polishes but now I think they are just great for fall and winter, as long as your nails are not too long . I am always loyal to essie, and am a fan of this shade for fall, it's called "decadent diva". Does anyone else get totally amused by nail polish colors (especially essie's)? Coming up with creative color names would be such a fun job!

Baking!

I really love baking, especially in the fall and winter! Baking is also a super easy and fun parent/child activity to do together. So today I decided to make classic chocolate chip cookies (aka eat cookie dough), and they turned out very yummy. While baking I wore my favorite apron from anthropologie, I really love aprons and all cooking utensils for that matter! Here is my favorite go to recipes, in case you need another to add to your repertoire:

1 1/3 cups flour

1/2 t baking powder

1/2 t baking soda

1/2 t salt

1/2 cup unsalted butter (room temp.)

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup packed light brown sugar

1 large egg

1 t vanilla extract

1 cup chocolate chips

1 cup toasted and chopped walnuts (optional)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Have ready 2 ungreased baking sheets. Sift the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt onto a sheet of wax paper; set aside. (I usually just put them in a bowl)

In a large bowl, using an electric mixer on high speed, cream the butter until fluffy and pale yellow. Add the granulated and brown sugars and continue beating until mixture is no longer gritty when rubbed between your finger and thumb. Add the egg and vanilla and beat on low speed until blended.

Add the flour mixture to the butter mixture and mix on low speed or stir with a wooden spoon until blended. Add chocolate chips and walnuts, if using, mixing or stirring until blended.

Shape the dough into 1 inch balls and put on baking sheets about 2 inches apart. Bake for about 12 minutes until golden brown and then let them cool and you're done!

Hi, it's me again!! I just wanted to let you know how cute the Lilly Jonah dress is! I ordered it from Ocean Palm (LP store in VA beach) and it just came in the mail today. I still think getting packages in the mail is sooo fun especially when you were not expecting something. Anyways back to the Jonah, I should have just bought it right when it came out so it wouldn't "slip away" but everything ended up working out because I just a few days ago I saw that it was on sale at Ocean Palm in my size! The dress is perfect for every casual occasion and super comfy. I'm so glad I could get it before it was all sold out.
