What's in a Name?

I picked up this cute little yellow book a few months ago from a Pottery Barn Outlet. It is really fun and has a personalized fortune for your name! Here is what it said for my name....

I have always loved names! When I was younger I loved lists (still do!) but I always would make these lists of what I wanted to name my kids and what my favorite names were. I found one of these lists the other day in a journal and it made me laugh here are some of the names I had written down...
1. Adelaide Irene (I was in love with this name, I still like the name Adelaide, though, or Adelina)
2. Imelda (This one could have cute nicknames, like Milly which is my car's name!)
3. Melanie
4. Valerie
5. Eloise
6. Lilly (You could have your name hidden in all the little Lilly prints!)
7. Laura
And for boys I had...
1. Griffin
2. Ignatius
3. Henry
4. Augustine (could be called Gus!)
5. William
6. Charles
7. Luke

What are some of your favorite names?

  1. I love Hadley, Lauren, Molly, Kennedy for girls! Such a fun post!

  2. What fun! I , too , love lists of names! I have used our favorites for all 5 of our children. We love double names too!

  3. Great post today! Names are always so interesting ... love Charlotte of Lance ...Sweet for a girl and strong for a boy ...
    Have a happy week!

  4. How fun!
I'm fond of Molly, Milly, Sophia and Elizabeth and for boys Nicholas (hence my son's name) Benjamin, and Drew.

  5. What a fun post! I love your picks - all so preppy and sweet! My favorites right now are Amelie Rose for a girl amd Mitchell Christopher for a boy (family names). I also adore double names. Hope you have a fabulous week sweetie!

  6. In our family, we "aren't allowed" to use anything but family names! I've always loved the name Emily for a girl, but knew I would never be able to use it. If my boys were girls, their names would have been Margaret Mason and Mary Elliott (double name) respectively.

I blogged about this a few months ago... check it out if you'd like!

  8. What a fun post you created! Names are always a great topic, and your book looks like it is an excellent resource. We like Charlotte, Molly, Miranda, Elizabeth, Jacqueline, and Margeurite (sp?).

    Great post!

  9. Thanks for stopping by my blog! I also had lists of favorite names and I don't think the names that I used for my children were on them. Brooks and Anne Douglas-I did know that I wanted my daughter to have a double name with anne, so I guess I had that part of it!!

  10. Hi there. I am your latest follower!!! This is definitely a great site, I will have to read more of your posts.
