What's Making Me Happy This Week

1. Exit Through the Gift Shop. All I knew before watching this was that it is a "weird doc" and now I wanna plan my life around seeing street art. This is on Netflix and I highly recommend it. I was feeling kind of "meh" and this little doc totally made me so happy such interesting people existed. I LOL'd multiple times.

2. JW Anderson for Uniqlo. JW Anderson did a collab with Uniqlo that launched online last Thursday. It was in my planner for a while so I was looking forward to it because I saw the look book and was super excited about this

I am regretting not getting that puffer coat because now it is sold out but I did scoop up this trench

A trench coat has been on my "to buy" list for a long time and I really wanted something from this collection lol so I just got it. There is a LOT of material so I probably woulda been better off getting an XS. It's extremely well made. It's super heavy and the stitches are really good. Oh, another fun thing is that it is reversible! The reverse side is the same plaid that is the sleeves. If you cinch the waist it looks very I can't think of what I'm trying to say right now but like "I look put together because I am wearing this thick thing but I am actually totally not".

3. Beatification of Stanley Rother. On Friday I went to OKC with my roomie and some other peeps because a Oklahoma priest & martyr was being beatified. Being beatified is one of the steps to becoming a Saint, the next one is being canonized. This is super rare to happen in the United States so it felt really cool & historical to be there for it. If you wanna read more about the guy the OKC diocese has some info

4. Saks GWPs. I drove to Cbus the other weekend (yes just for the weekend lol) and left my little travel case thing which had all my makeup / contacts in it and now it is MIA so I've been with only fresh sugar lip things ever since. I don't really wear makeup bc I have no clue what I am doing and usually get out of bed 10 minutes before I need to be out of the house but it is nice to be able to have the option to not look like S*&*. Anyways, so I ordered all new stuff and Saks is having a pretty good GWP rn if you spend $150 or more, you can see it here. You can use up to 5 codes at a time and if you qualify for that there are lots of other GWPs you can get too here. I just love samples!

5. Pumpkin K-Cups® at Trader Joes. It's finally starting to not be hot af. These pumpkin K-Cups are just the right amount of spice flavor for black coffee. They totally smell like fall too.

6. Tbell & Forever 21 Collab. Taco Bell is going to have a line at Forever 21 (praise hands & dancing girl emoji). This will launch October 11th. I actually think this is a really good idea lol

7. Ex Liberis. Ex Liberis is Fredrick Wiseman's latest doc. It's about the NYPL. This sounds SO good and I will be SO bummed if I am not able to see it! You can see where it is playing here.

Okay, that's all I've been into lately.

xoxox, Bye

What's Making Me Happy This Week

1. Reformation Sale

LOVE Reformation and how sustainable they are. Their sale started a few days ago my favorite things from it are

2. Gigantic knit blankets. These things are the king of cozy, I've been literally dreaming about them.

3. This song. Lolla reaffirmed all my feels about MØ. I could listen to this all day.

4. Lisi Lerch Tassel Earrings. These have been on my radar for a while but I held off getting them because I wear the same pair of earrings 24/7 until they fall out (staples from COS) but after seeing these again and again on other people I can't stop thinking about them and how perfect they'll be as a pop of color for No Color November.

5. The guy that made this Arthur memes for every occasion list on The List App. Arthur memes always make me lol but this list is everything.
6. The Olympics. My favorite Olympics things to watch are women's gymnastics, field hockey, table tennis,  and now rugby. I read this article about all of the fittings, wear tests (okay I hope), and $ that goes into making the gymnast's leos. Sounds like a super high pressure task.

7. Google Trends. I don't know if I am living under a rock for just realizing this page exists but Google Trends are SOOO cool. You can search any term and look at the interest in that term in different regions as well as increased/ decreased interest in the term over time. It's also fun to try and guess what the trending stories are.

What's Making Me Happy.

1. The Revenant. GAH. I saw this movie Sunday and I am so obsessed. I was extremely tired before seeing it and had 0 expectations. The only things I knew going in were that it had Leo and a bear in it. It is essential that this movie is seen in a theater, I was literally on the edge of my seat for parts. Cannot recommend enough. I will be spending my week walking around in the cold/ dragging my body around my apartment. By far the most engrossing movie I have ever seen. (lol ok you probably get it now)

2. Ballet Slippers. Oftentimes at work I like to do things that are really bad for my circulation such as sit cross legged on my chair, have one leg bent and one knee up on my chair, kneel sitting down on my legs on my chair, or set my feet on the legs of my chair. All of these things are much easier to do while wearing ballet slippers and this is doesn't gross other people out as much as wearing just socks might IMO. It also makes me happier to not have my feet confined to boots #freefeet .

3. Master of None. I haven't read Aziz Ansari's book or seen any of his stand up and I don't intend to but this show is the first show I have watched on my own since Gossip Girl a couple of years ago. It reminded me, in a realistic way of how fun it is to get to know another person.

4. Congratulations, By the Way. You can read this book in about 10 minutes or you can listen to the speech here:

It was a great/ needed reminder on how important kindness is. I prefer this read so you can look back on parts and just think about it but if you are on the computer I know how it can be easier to just listen to stuff.

5. Cafe Apropos. New go to place to "study" aka read online periodicals, read book club books, shop online, and listen in on Tinder dates happening around me. The food, beer selection, coffee, TV show viewing capabilities, cozy chairs, and seating variety are all up to par.

6. Animal Pics. My roomie and I went to Sunrise Sanctuary the other day to visit with some animals and looking at the pics is still making me smile/ think good thoughts.

7. Distressed Boyfriend Jeans. One of my roommates and I went shopping for 8 hours on Saturday. It was a productive yet strenuous trip. I went home with these guys and am really glad I did because they are my new go to (yes even with the sub zero temperatures). The fit is super relaxed and I love the rips. They are comfy enough to sleep in (tested last weekend).

What's Making Me Happy

Here's what's making me happy this week....

1. Terrariums. I was pretty into these little guys last year and ordered one from Etsy (similar one) but got re- interested in them this week. I have one that sits on my desk, that is similar to this one except it is smaller and square with the hole at the top. They make the best desk friends. It is easy to make your own if you just get rocks, activated carbon (you can just break open a Brita filter and use those black little pieces), sand, soil, and then your choice of moss and succulents and little figurines and then layer those in a glass jar.

2. Candy corn mixed with peanuts. THIS. IS. SO. GOOD. and also super good for you!

3. Everyone loving on the Pope. Even though I didn't go see him and suffered from Pope FOMO, it was exciting having Pope Francis in the U.S. but I liked everyone talking about him even more than him being here if that makes sense. Here is one of the Pope's speeches from Philly.

Pope Francis' trip through the United States was warmly received by untold millions across the globe. -slide0

4. Reunions. This weekend was my high school class's 5 year reunion. It feels like it's been more than 5 years since high school to me. I normally try to not count down to the weekend because then the week isn't very fun but being around high school peeps lived up to the hype I built up in my head. Next weekend is OSU's homecoming and some girls from my sorority are staying with me so it will be like a slumber party. HCT, not running a marathon, temp tatts, cold brew, and Bullwinkle's are on the agenda.

Girls.

6. This blog.

7. Essie's Fall 2015 Collection. My specific favorite is Leggy Legend.
8. Not showering. Something abnormal happened to my hair this week and I had to wash it significantly less than normal (specific # not mentioned for privacy reasons) so of course I took this as a shower free pass because anyone who has been around me for more than a few hours knows that I detest showering. (because I mention it not because I smell wanted to clarify)

What's Making Me Happy.

1.  The weather. This is cliche but 70 and mostly sunny with a breeze is my ultimate favorite temperature. I have been on top of it the past few days and have been consulting the forecast the evening before and planning my outfit, I usually write it in my planner on the lines that in the good old days woulda been taken up by homework assignments. This weather is great for reading outside/people watching and going on rounds in said pre planned outfit.

2. Bunnies like watermelon. The retirement home near our apartment has these adorable pet rabbits that they sometimes have in the front yard and today they were all munching on watermelon! So far Ezra's favorite fruits are apples and bananas but I can't wait to have him try watermelon.

3. Gone Girl. I know I am about 3 years late to this game but I started/finished Gone Girl this week. I could barely put it down, so if that is the definition of a good book then it is definitely good.

4. Platform Tevas. I so love these. My old tevas are faded/muddy from participating in lots of Teva perfect activities with me over the past 2 years.
5. New glasses. I had eye muscle surgery not this past Friday but the one before that and never will take semi okay vision for granted again! Another benefit this surgery has besides improving my double vision is that I get to buy new glasses. I ordered these from Warby Parker without trying them on in the interest of  wanting to be able to find my keys without feeling around like a blind person ASAP, so hopefully they look okay on me.

6. My BFF introduced me to the song "Black Magic" by Little Mix and it has been on repeat for at least an hour every day since. The FIFA 2015 soundtrack is (fire emoji)  I also discovered this week.

7. New York Times Modern Love Essays. I love reading these essay submissions. I read this one today and it brought up questions I often think about like, how do you know if something is a missed connection? if someone says that they think you have something "special" don't they probably say that to everyone? if they don't and you do not consider the interaction special is there something wrong with them or you or neither? If you divulge your head world thoughts to many people wouldn't you have several out of the ordinary interactions with people and not be able to recognize if something was truly a good connection because you've had so many similar experiences?

8. Destination Donuts. These are my new favorite donuts (sry Buckeye Donuts and Resch's), They taste like delicious pillows. My favorite flavor so far is Butterscotch. They have them at North Market and One Line Coffee.
